Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyễn Phú Trọng and Vietnamese President Võ Văn Thưởng on the occasion of the anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, form a community with a shared destiny. “Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, our two countries have supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,” Xi stated. “The profound friendship between Vietnam and China, characterized by the phrase ‘comrades and brothers,’ vividly portrays the strong relations between our parties and countries.”
The Chinese president recalled his past meetings with Vietnamese leaders, noting the commitment to elevate bilateral relations to a new level. “In advancing socialism, we have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening our comprehensive strategic cooperation,” he said. “China and Vietnam share common ideals and aspirations for the future, which is the most striking feature of our relations.”
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the significance of China and Vietnam continuing on the path of socialism. “Our joint efforts bear on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” he remarked. “It is of great importance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large.”
Xi expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for both sides to “keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,” aiming to bring greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to global development and progress.
