Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday in Washington D.C., aiming to bolster China-U.S. relations through enhanced economic cooperation. The meeting included members from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Han, who is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative, emphasized the importance of U.S. companies continuing to invest and establish roots in China. He highlighted their role as a bridge between the two nations and their potential to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
“China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,” Han stated. “Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community.”
Han also noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a phone call.
Representatives from the U.S. business community expressed optimism following the recent communication between the two leaders. They acknowledged the positive message sent by the conversation and emphasized the need for the two countries to pursue mutually beneficial cooperation.
“As the world’s two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,” they said.
The U.S. business leaders expressed their readiness to strengthen dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation. They also conveyed their optimism about China’s economic prospects and the opportunities available for development.
In addition to meeting with business leaders, Han Zheng met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China and contribute to promoting economic and trade relations between the two nations.
Musk expressed his enthusiasm for deepening Tesla’s investment and cooperation with China, stating that the company is eager to play an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China.
