Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger ties between China and Vietnam, emphasizing the importance of deepening strategic mutual trust and enhancing practical cooperation. On Saturday, President Xi exchanged congratulatory messages with Vietnamese leaders on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring socialist countries.
In his message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the historical significance of the China-Vietnam relationship. “China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” he stated.
Reflecting on the longstanding friendship, Xi noted that over the past 75 years, both nations have stood side by side, supporting each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he remarked, underscoring the deep bonds forged through shared ideals and mutual assistance.
The Chinese President recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which the two sides pledged to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. This commitment has elevated the bilateral relations to a new stage, opening avenues for enhanced cooperation and mutual development.
As the world undergoes unprecedented changes, Xi emphasized the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism in good faith. He asserted that this path has a bearing not only on the future of both nations but also on the global socialist cause, contributing significantly to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
President Xi expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunities presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “By keeping in mind our original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, we aim to deliver more benefits to our peoples and make important contributions to human development and progress,” he stated.
