On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC personages at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The festive gathering brought together representatives from non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the nation’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology as essential to maintaining robust social and economic growth in the coming year.
“We will strive to uphold sound momentum for social and economic development in 2025,” Xi stated, underscoring the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). “Efforts should be made this year to successfully accomplish these goals and lay a solid foundation for the next five years.”
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks and serve the overall interests of the country. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength. “Your contributions are vital to our nation’s progress,” he affirmed, urging unity and collaboration across all sectors of society.
The Spring Festival, a time of reunion and celebration, provided a fitting backdrop for Xi’s message of solidarity and shared purpose. The gathering reflected the inclusive approach of the Chinese leadership in engaging with diverse political and social groups to foster national development.
