Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Partnership on Diplomatic Milestone
October XX, 2023
Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation. Speaking on Saturday, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, marking a significant step on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
In his message, Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. The leaders celebrated the longstanding friendship and collaborative efforts that have defined China-Vietnam relations over the past seven and a half decades.
“China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi stated. He reflected on the historical bond between the two countries, noting that they have “fought side by side and supported each other” in their struggles for national independence and liberation. Xi highlighted that the profound friendship, characterized by being “comrades and brothers,” vividly portrays the relationship between the two parties and nations.
Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam earlier in 2023, where both sides pledged to elevate their relations to a new stage. “We have raised the relations between our parties and countries to a new level, pledging to work for a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” he said.
Amidst the unprecedented changes unfolding globally, Xi underscored the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism in good faith. He asserted that this commitment not only impacts the future of both countries but also bears significant weight on the global socialist cause, contributing to regional and worldwide peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Expressing his dedication to bilateral relations, Xi stated his willingness to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “Let us keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,” he urged, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and make important contributions to human development and progress.
