On the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation. The goal is to achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
In messages exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the profound friendship and shared socialist ideals between the two countries. “China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi remarked.
Reflecting on the history of their relationship, Xi noted that over the past 75 years, China and Vietnam have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. Quoting a well-known sentiment, he said, “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers,” encapsulating the close ties between the two nations.
Xi also recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new level. He emphasized that as the world undergoes unprecedented changes, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to socialism is crucial not only for their own futures but also for global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
“China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between our two parties and countries,” Xi stated. He expressed his willingness to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to advance towards socialist modernization, delivering greater benefits to both peoples and contributing to human development and progress.
Xi concluded by reiterating the importance he places on the growth of bilateral relations and his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to forge ahead on this new journey.
