Sanyuesan Festival Showcases Zhuang Culture in Guangxi

The vibrant Sanyuesan Festival lit up south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the Zhuang ethnic group came together to celebrate their rich cultural heritage. Marked on the third day of the third month in the traditional Chinese calendar, this national intangible cultural heritage festival is a significant event for the Zhuang people.

Festivities included singing folk songs, traditional dances, entertaining games, and sharing of local delicacies. Communities gathered to honor their traditions, showcasing the unique customs and artistic expressions that have been passed down through generations.

Looking ahead, Guangxi is set to host the Global Mayors Dialogue · Nanning from January 15 to 18, 2025. Under the theme “Jointly Building an Amicable Home for China-ASEAN: Urban Openness and Cooperation,” the event aims to strengthen economic and trade relations and boost cultural and tourism cooperation among cities within the region. This dialogue is expected to create new avenues for all-round interconnection, leveraging Guangxi’s rich cultural backdrop exemplified by events like the Sanyuesan Festival.

The convergence of cultural celebration and international cooperation highlights Guangxi’s growing role in fostering regional ties and promoting the dynamic interplay of tradition and modernity in Asia.
