Zhuang Ethnic Group’s Sanyuesan Festival Showcases Cultural Charm in Guangxi

The Zhuang ethnic group recently celebrated the annual Sanyuesan Festival in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bringing to life a rich tapestry of cultural traditions. The festival, which is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage, falls on the third day of the third month in the traditional Chinese calendar.

During the festivities, Zhuang people gathered to sing folk songs, perform traditional dances, participate in entertaining games, and share local delicacies. The vibrant celebrations highlighted the unique cultural heritage of the Zhuang community, attracting visitors and fostering a deeper appreciation of their customs.

With its rich cultural backdrop, Guangxi is set to host the Global Mayors Dialogue · Nanning from January 15 to 18, 2025. The event, themed “Jointly Building an Amicable Home for China-ASEAN: Urban Openness and Cooperation,” aims to strengthen economic and trade relations, boost cultural and tourism cooperation among cities, and create a new pattern of comprehensive interconnection. The dialogue is expected to bring together leaders and experts to discuss strategies for regional development and collaboration.

The convergence of the Sanyuesan Festival and the upcoming Global Mayors Dialogue underscores Guangxi’s role as a bridge between China and the ASEAN region. By showcasing its cultural charm and fostering international dialogue, Guangxi continues to contribute to the dynamic landscape of Asian affairs.
