Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is set to be sidelined for “many weeks” after suffering a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 5-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace, manager Mikel Arteta revealed.
The 23-year-old was forced off in the 22nd minute of the match and later seen leaving the stadium on crutches. His absence is a significant blow for Arsenal, as Saka has been instrumental this season, recording five goals and ten assists in the league, helping the team secure third place in the standings.
“Saka will miss Friday’s league game against Ipswich Town at the Emirates, along with several others,” Arteta said. “But we are hopeful he will recover before the season concludes.”
Saka’s injury history this season includes missing three Nations League games for England in October and November, as well as Arsenal’s league defeat at Bournemouth and their Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, all due to injury to the same leg.
Arteta attributed the injury to a combination of factors, including the demanding number of games Saka has played. “It’s a build-up of many reasons,” he explained, highlighting concerns over player workload.
Arsenal fans and football enthusiasts worldwide will keenly await updates on Saka’s recovery as the club navigates the remainder of the season without one of their key players.
