Foreign Minister Wang Yi Vows to Make China a Global Force for Inclusion and Peace

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday pledged to position China as a global force for peace, unity, openness, justice, and inclusion. Speaking at a foreign policy symposium in Beijing, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang addressed the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2024. He highlighted China’s active efforts in promoting world peace and saving lives amid global crises.

On the Ukraine crisis, Wang reiterated China’s objective and impartial stance, advocating for peace and negotiations. “China actively strives for the restoration of world peace and works to save human lives,” he stated.

Regarding the conflict in Gaza, Wang expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives. “The urgent priority is a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities,” he said. He stressed that humanitarian aid must be ensured and that the fundamental solution lies in the realization of the two-state solution.

Wang affirmed that China will firmly remain a force for peace. He called on the incoming U.S. administration to make the right decisions and work with China to eliminate interference and overcome obstacles. “We should strive for stable, healthy, and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations,” he urged.

Looking ahead, Wang mentioned that China will deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and practical collaboration with Russia. He also expressed intent to promote China-EU relations along a path of independence, mutual achievement, and global benefit.
