Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday pledged to position China as a global force for peace, unity, openness, justice, and inclusion. Speaking at the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2024, held in Beijing, Wang outlined China’s commitment to fostering a shared future for humanity.
“Building a community with a shared future for mankind has been established as the noble goal of China’s major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics,” said Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. He emphasized China’s active role in promoting world peace and saving human lives.
Addressing international conflicts, Wang stressed China’s objective and impartial stance. On the Ukraine crisis, he reaffirmed China’s consistent advocacy for peace and negotiations. “China has consistently upheld an objective and impartial position, actively promoting dialogue and seeking peaceful solutions,” he stated.
Regarding the Gaza conflict, Wang expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives. “The urgent priority is a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities,” he said. “The key focus is to ensure humanitarian aid, and the fundamental solution lies in the realization of the two-state solution.”
Wang Yi reiterated China’s determination to remain a steadfast force for peace. He called upon the incoming U.S. administration to make prudent decisions and work collaboratively with China. “We should eliminate interference, overcome obstacles, and strive for stable, healthy, and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations,” he urged.
Highlighting future diplomatic efforts, Wang announced that China will deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and practical collaboration with Russia. Moreover, China aims to promote China-EU relations, moving forward along a path of independence, mutual achievement, and global benefit.
“China is committed to contributing to global peace and development,” Wang concluded. “We will continue to uphold justice, advocate for inclusion, and work towards a harmonious international community.”
