Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kim Tae-nyeon, president of the Republic of Korea-China Parliamentarians’ Union, on Wednesday in Beijing. The meeting aimed to enhance friendly relations and cooperation between China and the ROK.
Wang Yi praised the Parliamentarians’ Union for its significant contribution to fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. He emphasized that China and the ROK, as close neighbors, should maintain regular exchanges to promote mutual success and regional prosperity.
“Both our countries have achieved remarkable development, contributing significantly to peace and prosperity in the region,” Wang Yi said. “We should highly value this achievement and continue to be good neighbors with mutual trust and good partners with win-win cooperation.”
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s willingness to expand all-around mutually beneficial cooperation with the ROK. He highlighted the importance of jointly defending free trade principles and safeguarding the stability of global supply chains.
Kim Tae-nyeon, accompanied by lawmakers from various political parties, acknowledged the wide participation in the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union from across party lines. “This reflects the value and enthusiasm that all parties place on the ROK-China relationship,” he said.
The ROK delegation expressed their commitment to working closely with China to strengthen strategic communication, enhance exchanges, and explore cooperation potential. They emphasized the importance of improving mutual understanding between the two peoples and promoting friendly relations.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to inject new vitality into China-ROK relations amid changing international and regional circumstances, facing any difficulties and challenges together.
