Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng Stresses Safe and Smooth Spring Festival Travel

Beijing—Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on Tuesday called for comprehensive efforts to ensure safe and smooth travel during the upcoming Spring Festival, emphasizing the importance of transportation and logistics operations functioning efficiently throughout the holiday period.

He, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks during an inspection tour of key transport hubs in Beijing, including the Beijing Daxing International Airport and the Beijing West Railway Station. His visit underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating one of the world’s largest annual human migrations.

“All transportation departments must diligently identify and address potential safety risks while preparing for possible extreme weather conditions,” He said. He urged relevant regions, departments, and enterprises to enhance their preparedness to ensure that travelers can reach their destinations safely and conveniently.

He Lifeng also highlighted the need to maximize transport capacity and improve travel services, including ticketing and transfers. “Efforts should be made to make full use of transport capacity and enhance travel services such as ticketing and transfers,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of meeting the high demand for travel during the festival.

The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the most significant traditional holiday in China. It is a time when millions of people travel to reunite with their families, making it the world’s largest annual human migration. Ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation during this period is a top priority for the government.
