Reeves is in the Chinese capital for the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, marking the resumption of the dialogue after nearly six years.

“China and the UK are both major economies and financial heavyweights in the world,” Han emphasized during the meeting. He pointed out that enhancing economic and financial cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership is crucial for promoting economic growth, improving people’s lives, and encouraging green development in both countries.

Han further stated that such collaboration would “inject confidence and impetus into the development of the world economy.” He expressed China’s willingness to continue expanding openness and exchanges with the UK, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and trust. “We hope to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation to bring more benefits to the two countries and the world,” Han said.

Rachel Reeves highlighted the importance of the dialogue’s resumption. “The resumption of this dialogue after nearly six years is of great significance,” she noted. Reeves affirmed the British side’s commitment to developing relations with China and expressed a willingness to strengthen candid dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation. “We aim to promote the economic development of each country,” she added.

Established in 2008, the high-level dialogue mechanism serves as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation on strategic, overall, and long-term major issues in the economic and financial fields between China and the UK.
