China has officially announced its delegation for the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy. The 84-member delegation includes 48 athletes from 13 universities across the country, set to compete in six disciplines: Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, curling, and short track speed skating.
With an average age of 22, the majority of these young athletes are making their debut on the world stage, as 45 of them will participate in a global multi-sport event for the first time. This fresh-faced team represents the new generation of Chinese university sports talent.
In preparation for the Games, the China University Sports Federation organized a series of selection events. Training camps are currently underway in Beijing and northeast China’s Jilin Province, focusing on honing the athletes’ skills and fostering team cohesion.
Liu Lixin, head of the Chinese delegation, expressed high hopes for the team. “We aspire for our athletes to showcase the positive image of China’s younger generation on the global stage,” Liu said. “We encourage them to build international friendships with youth worldwide and foster cultural exchanges among the participating teams.”
The 2025 Winter Universiade, scheduled from January 13 to 23 in Turin, will feature competitions in 11 sports. The event has attracted over 2,600 athletes and officials from 55 countries and regions, promising a vibrant gathering of global university talent.
