China and Congo Pledge Deeper Cooperation to Strengthen China-Africa Ties

In a significant move to bolster China-Africa relations, China and the Republic of Congo have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation and promoting shared development. The consensus was reached during talks between Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Brazzaville on Tuesday.

President Sassou warmly welcomed Minister Wang’s visit, conveying his New Year greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping. He highlighted the historic significance of President Xi’s 2013 visit to Congo, noting it was Xi’s first overseas trip after taking office, marking a milestone in the relationship between the two nations.

Emphasizing Africa’s growing prominence on the global stage, President Sassou expressed his hope that China's focus on the continent would inspire the international community to enhance support for Africa. He praised President Xi's ten partnership action plans introduced at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), describing them as comprehensive and well-aligned with Africa's development needs.

"The action plans address critical challenges such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and industrialization, which are vital for the growth of Congo and other African nations," President Sassou stated. He pledged that Congo, as co-chair of FOCAC, would make every effort to implement these initiatives and drive greater success in China-Africa cooperation.

Minister Wang conveyed President Xi's greetings and reiterated China's steadfast commitment to Africa. He commended Congo's vibrant progress under President Sassou's leadership and emphasized the strategic importance of China's annual tradition of beginning the foreign minister's year with a visit to Africa, signaling China's unwavering solidarity with African nations.

"China is ready to be Congo's most reliable partner in its development journey," Minister Wang affirmed. He highlighted China's willingness to work closely with Congo to fully implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit, focusing on shared modernization goals, Africa's development, and increasing Congo's international influence.

Highlighting the strong ties between the two countries, Minister Wang reaffirmed support for Congo's role as co-chair of FOCAC in driving international cooperation with Africa. He emphasized that the partnership between China and Congo serves as a model for China-Africa relations and contributes to the broader vision of shared prosperity.

The reaffirmation of commitments by China and Congo underscores the deepening ties between China and African nations, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual development. As both countries look toward the future, their collaborative efforts are set to contribute significantly to the prosperity and stability of the region.
