Beijing Ducks Conclude Demanding CBA Week with Triumph Over Zhejiang

After a grueling week in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), the Beijing Ducks emerged with a commendable 2-1 record, capped by a resounding 118-96 victory over the Zhejiang Golden Bulls. Facing some of the league’s top contenders—including the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, Liaoning Flying Leopards, and Zhejiang—the capital team showcased resilience and determination.

The week began with a challenging road loss to Xinjiang, where Beijing fell 108-97. However, the Ducks quickly rebounded on New Year’s Day, defeating the three-time defending champions, Liaoning Flying Leopards, with an impressive 105-90 win at home. This victory boosted their morale ahead of their matchup against Zhejiang, a team that had bested them twice in the previous season.

Coach Xu Liming faced uncertainties leading into the game. While newly-signed center Zhou Qi returned from injury, standout point guard Chen Ying-chun was sidelined due to an ankle sprain sustained against Liaoning. Despite these setbacks, the Ducks were determined to maintain their momentum.

The game against Zhejiang started with both teams displaying high shooting percentages and trading baskets. Guard Eugene German was instrumental for Beijing, scoring 14 points in the first quarter alone, helping the Ducks to a 32-24 lead. Utilizing their advantage in the paint and sharp perimeter shooting, Beijing kept the Golden Bulls at bay, stifling any attempts at a comeback.

By halftime, the Ducks led 65-50. Although they started the third quarter sluggishly, Coach Xu’s strategic substitutions kept the pressure on, maintaining offensive efficiency. Entering the final quarter with a 91-74 advantage, Beijing continued to dominate. Three-pointers from Zhang Cairen and Sun Yahui extended the lead, and as the game progressed into the final minutes, bench players and young prospects took to the court.

The final buzzer signaled a decisive victory for Beijing, setting a season-high for points in a single game. The Ducks’ 118-96 win over Zhejiang not only secured back-to-back victories but also demonstrated their depth and adaptability, concluding a demanding week on a high note.
