China’s Zhao Dan and Lin Qinwei Secure Historic Skeleton Mixed Team Title in Winterberg

China’s dynamic duo, Zhao Dan and Lin Qinwei, made history on Friday by clinching the country’s first world-level title in the skeleton mixed team event at the IBSF World Cup in Winterberg, Germany.

Their victory not only marks a milestone for China in the sport but also comes as the skeleton mixed team event is set to make its Olympic debut at next year’s 2026 Winter Games in Milano-Cortina.

Zhao Dan set the pace with a remarkable finish time of 1 minute and 1.46 seconds, propelling China into the lead. Lin Qinwei followed with an impressive performance, culminating in a combined winning time of 2 minutes and 0.87 seconds.

This victory represents China’s first World Cup triumph in the skeleton team competition, underscoring the nation’s growing prowess in winter sports.

The Austrian pair, Janine Flock and Samuel Maier, secured second place, trailing by a mere 0.10 seconds. Another Chinese team, consisting of Li Yuxi and Yin Zheng, rounded out the podium by taking third place.

With two Chinese teams on the podium, China’s success at the IBSF World Cup highlights its increasing influence in the international skeleton arena and sets an optimistic tone ahead of the upcoming Winter Games.
