On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with representatives of outstanding retired officials and groups at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The event celebrated the dedication and achievements of those who have devoted their careers to the nation’s development.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended his congratulations to the awardees. He emphasized the importance of carrying forward the glorious traditions of the Party and maintaining political integrity.
Addressing the retirees, Xi urged them to continue contributing to the nation’s progress, highlighting their valuable experience and wisdom. He encouraged them to support the building of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation through the path of Chinese modernization.
Senior officials Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting.
Li Ganjie, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee’s Organization Department, was also present at the gathering.
The meeting followed a ceremony held on Monday, where 150 groups and 450 individuals were honored for their exemplary service. Li Ganjie addressed the ceremony, acknowledging the significant contributions of the retired officials and encouraging them to remain engaged in the nation’s development.
The recognition of these model retirees underscores the Chinese mainland’s commitment to valuing the experience of its senior citizens and integrating their contributions into the continued pursuit of modernization and national rejuvenation.
