Ma Ying-jeou will lead a delegation of youth from the Taiwan region to visit the Chinese mainland from December 18 to 26, according to Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.
The delegation is set to explore northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province and southwest China’s Sichuan Province. They will participate in the Cross-Straits Youth Ice and Snow Festival in Heilongjiang, fostering cultural exchange through shared winter sports activities.
Zhu Fenglian extended a warm welcome to Ma and the young visitors, stating that the mainland will make arrangements for their activities. “China, with its long history, splendid culture, vast territory, and magnificent landscapes, is the common home of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait,” she said.
Emphasizing the vital role of youth in shaping future cross-Strait relations, Zhu expressed hope that young people from both sides will continue to engage in frequent exchanges and visits. She encouraged them to jointly carry forward the fine traditional Chinese culture, promote cooperation in various fields, safeguard and build the common homeland, and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
