China is closely following the developments in Syria and hopes for a swift return to stability in the region, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.
In a statement, the spokesperson emphasized that the Chinese government has been assisting Chinese nationals who wish to leave Syria, ensuring they do so safely and orderly. For those who remain in Syria, the government is maintaining contact and providing guidance on safety measures.
“We urge relevant parties in Syria to ensure the safety and security of Chinese institutions and personnel present in the country,” the spokesperson stated.
The Chinese embassy in Damascus continues to operate and is committed to offering all possible assistance to Chinese nationals in need, the spokesperson added.
