China Defends Actions Against Philippine Vessels Near Huangyan Dao

China has defended its recent actions against Philippine vessels near Huangyan Dao, asserting that it acted lawfully to protect its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights. According to a spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, the measures were necessary after the Philippines attempted to intrude into China’s territorial sea surrounding Huangyan Dao.

“The U.S. ambassador to the Philippines overlooked basic facts and made groundless accusations against China’s legitimate measures for protecting its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests,” the spokesperson stated on Friday in response to remarks made by the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines. “We firmly oppose and condemn her accusation.”

The incident has heightened tensions in the region, with China emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding its territorial claims. The embassy’s statement underscores China’s stance on the matter, highlighting the country’s readiness to take necessary actions in accordance with the law.
