China and Uzbekistan to Launch 30-Day Visa-Free Travel and Direct Flights in 2025

In a landmark move to boost tourism and strengthen bilateral relations, China and Uzbekistan are set to implement a 30-day visa-free travel policy for each other’s citizens starting in 2025. The two nations will also inaugurate new direct flights to facilitate travel.

From January to October 2024, Uzbekistan welcomed approximately 6.5 million foreign tourists, reflecting the country’s growing appeal as a travel destination. With the new visa-free policy, Uzbekistan aims to attract even more visitors from China.

Umid Shadiev, chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, expressed optimism about the initiative, stating that the Central Asian nation aspires to attract 1 million Chinese tourists each year. “This policy will not only strengthen our cultural and economic ties but also promote mutual understanding between our peoples,” he said.

The introduction of new direct flights between China and Uzbekistan is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance convenience for tourists and business travelers alike.

The visa-free policy and improved connectivity underscore the commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation and foster greater exchange in tourism, culture, and commerce.
