New York Braces for Gusty Winds and Snow Showers

New York City is preparing for a swift change in weather as a fast-moving cold front is set to sweep across the region late Wednesday. According to weather forecasts, the city will experience gusty winds and the chance of snow showers, signaling the onset of winter conditions.

While significant snow accumulation is not expected, the combination of wind and snowflakes could result in snow squalls. These sudden, intense bursts of snow may limit visibility, posing challenges for travelers throughout the area.

The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) reports that a wintry mix of precipitation will begin early Wednesday night, transitioning to rain by Thursday morning. Commuters are advised to exercise caution during this period due to potentially slippery conditions.

The approaching storm, known as a clipper system, will bring its heaviest snow to the Great Lakes region. Northern Maine could see snowfall amounts ranging from 15 to 30 centimeters. Areas in upstate New York, already impacted by a recent lake-effect storm that deposited over 165 centimeters of snow in some locations, may receive additional accumulations of a few centimeters.
