China and Nepal Pledge to Enhance Cooperation on All Fronts
Chengdu, China — In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba on Friday in Chengdu, the southwestern city of China. The meeting marks a concerted effort by both nations to promote cooperation across various sectors.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the progress made under the Belt and Road Initiative and highlighted the advancement of the trans-Himalayan multi-dimensional connectivity network. “China is ready to work with Nepal to embrace new prospects for the development of China-Nepal relations by taking the opportunity of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties next year,” Wang stated.
Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to the one-China policy, assuring that Nepal will not allow any forces to use its territory to engage in activities that oppose China or harm its interests. “Nepal appreciates the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and is willing to participate in the Global Development Initiative,” she added.
The talks signal a mutual dedication to deepening cooperation as both countries approach a milestone in their diplomatic relationship. The ministers discussed enhancing connectivity, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, aiming to bring tangible benefits to their citizens and contribute to regional stability and development.
The meeting in Chengdu sets the stage for a series of collaborative efforts leading up to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025, promising a strengthened partnership between China and Nepal.
