CMG Unveils Theme and Logo for 2025 Spring Festival Gala Celebrating Year of the Snake

China Media Group (CMG) has unveiled the official theme and logo for its 2025 Spring Festival Gala, marking an exciting beginning to the Year of the Snake on the Chinese lunar calendar, which will commence in late January 2025.

The theme for this year’s gala is “Year of the Snake, Keep Your Spirits Awake” (“巳巳如意,生生不息”), a vibrant message that invites global Chinese communities to join in the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The gala aims to foster unity and share the rich cultural traditions associated with this significant annual event.

The Chinese lunar calendar operates on a 60-year cycle, incorporating 10 “Tiangan” (Heavenly Stems) characters and 12 “Dizhi” (Earthly Branches) characters to represent each year. The Year of the Snake, aligning with the year 2025, is symbolized by the characters “乙巳.”

The newly revealed logo features two “巳” characters positioned side by side. The left character stands upright, while the right one is an inverted mirror image. This arrangement mirrors the traditional Chinese practice of displaying a pair of ruyis—a ceremonial scepter symbolizing good fortune and the fulfillment of wishes, which resonates with the first half of the gala’s theme.

The second half of the theme, “生生不息,” is a timeless expression in Chinese that signifies the endless cycle of life, reflecting hope, resilience, and the continuity of cultural heritage.

As the world prepares to welcome the Year of the Snake, CMG’s Spring Festival Gala promises a captivating showcase of performances and traditions that celebrate the enduring spirit of the Chinese people.
