The remains of 43 Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) martyrs who lost their lives during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea have been solemnly returned to China from the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Thursday.
An air force Y-20 transport aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) carried the remains and 495 personal artifacts, landing in Shenyang City in northeast China’s Liaoning Province later in the day.
This marks the 11th repatriation of CPV martyrs’ remains since China and the ROK signed a handover agreement in 2014. Over the past decade, the remains of hundreds of fallen heroes have been brought back to their homeland, symbolizing ongoing efforts to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Nearly 200,000 CPV soldiers were confirmed killed in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, with many laid to rest on the Korean Peninsula. The repatriation ceremonies serve not only as a tribute to the martyrs but also as a poignant reminder of the profound cost of war and the enduring pursuit of peace.
The return of the martyrs’ remains underscores the deep historical ties and collaborative spirit between China and the ROK in addressing shared history with respect and dignity.
