China has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stable and unimpeded global industrial and supply chains, Premier Li Qiang said on Monday during a symposium with global business leaders.
The symposium, held ahead of the upcoming second China International Supply Chain Expo, gathered representatives from leading enterprises and organizations, including Apple, Rio Tinto, Contemporary Amperex Technology, and the US-China Business Council.
Corporate leaders expressed strong confidence in the Chinese economy and the vast potential of its market. They emphasized their willingness to expand investment in the country, deepen development, and enhance cooperation on global industrial and supply chains to achieve mutual benefits.
Premier Li highlighted the importance of global industrial and supply chains in driving world economic growth over the past few decades. He noted that economic globalization has expanded these chains, benefiting all parties involved.
However, Li expressed concern over protectionist measures and an overemphasis on security concepts that disrupt global supply chains. Such actions increase corporate costs, reduce economic efficiency, and hinder shared development, he said.
He called for collective efforts to safeguard the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains, emphasizing the common interests of all nations.
Li pointed out that China has maintained steady economic growth and made progress this year. He assured that the government will enhance counter-cyclical adjustments to promote healthy economic development.
China aims to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system, providing solid support for efficient global supply chain operations, Li stated.
Efforts will also focus on integrating scientific and technological innovation with industrial development and better participating in international innovation cooperation.
China remains steadfast in promoting high-standard opening up, further expanding market access, and welcoming more foreign enterprises to engage in industrial cooperation within the country, the premier added.
Li expressed hope that enterprises will continue to support economic globalization, deepen international division of labor and cooperation, and work together to enhance the dynamism, resilience, and efficiency of global industrial and supply chains.
