China Urges U.S. to Stop Meddling in Hong Kong SAR’s Rule of Law

China has called on the United States to cease its interference in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s (SAR) rule of law. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized new U.S. visa restrictions that target officials from Hong Kong responsible for implementing the region’s National Security Law.

The spokesperson condemned the U.S. actions as unwarranted meddling in China’s internal affairs, emphasizing that the National Security Law is a legitimate measure to safeguard the stability and security of Hong Kong SAR.

“The United States should respect China’s sovereignty and stop interfering under the pretext of human rights and democracy,” the spokesperson stated.

The National Security Law, implemented in Hong Kong SAR, aims to prevent secession, subversion, terrorism, and collusion with foreign forces. Chinese authorities assert that the law is essential for maintaining order and prosperity in the region.

China’s response highlights ongoing tensions between the two nations over issues related to Hong Kong SAR. Beijing urges Washington to reconsider its stance and avoid actions that could further strain diplomatic relations.
