Lima, Peru – APEC members on Saturday jointly called for effective multilateral cooperation to address pressing challenges in areas such as trade and investment, environment, food security, and energy security.
The call was made through the 2024 APEC Leaders’ Machu Picchu Declaration, released following the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting held in Lima, Peru.
“Unprecedented and rapid changes continue to shape the world today,” the declaration stated, highlighting that APEC economies have noted significant changes affecting key sectors.
“Effective multilateral cooperation is even more important in this context,” it emphasized, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to tackle shared challenges.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation within the APEC framework, aiming to foster inclusive growth and sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region.
