Chinese State Councilor Meets UN Women Chief to Strengthen Global Women’s Cause
On Thursday, Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin met with UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous in Beijing. The meeting focused on joint efforts to promote the global women’s cause, with both leaders expressing commitment to advancing women’s development worldwide.
Shen Yiqin, who also serves as the president of the All-China Women’s Federation, highlighted the significant achievements China has made in advancing women’s rights and opportunities. “Women have become an important driver in advancing China’s modernization,” she stated, emphasizing the pivotal role of women in the nation’s progress.
She further expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with UN Women to enhance the development of women’s causes globally and to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Sima Bahous appreciated China’s contributions to international women’s initiatives. “UN Women will promote cooperation with China and hopes China can share more experience in this area with the rest of the world,” she said, acknowledging the importance of China’s role in empowering women worldwide.
