Typhoon Yinxing Approaches Hainan, Bringing Heavy Rainfall

Residents of central and southeastern Hainan Province are preparing for heavy rainfall as Typhoon Yinxing moves closer to the Chinese mainland. According to a report released on Sunday by the Ministry of Water Resources, moderate to heavy rains are expected from November 11 to 12, potentially impacting daily life and local infrastructure.

Minor rises in water levels are also anticipated in the Wanquan River, Changhua River, and other coastal rivers, which could lead to localized flooding.

In response, the Ministry of Water Resources is closely monitoring the typhoon’s path. The ministry is conducting daily discussions and assessments, promptly informing the Hainan Provincial Water Resources Department of rainfall forecasts and meeting results.

Authorities are accelerating repairs to damaged water infrastructure and enhancing mountain flood prevention measures. Evacuation plans for at-risk areas are being improved, and reservoir operations are being optimized to balance flood control and water storage.

A team from the Ministry of Water Resources has been deployed to Hainan to support flood control operations. Local water resources departments are actively identifying and addressing risks in water infrastructure and preparing reservoirs for potential flooding.

As of 10 a.m. on November 10, Typhoon Yinxing was centered about 245 kilometers southeast of Sansha City, Hainan, and is expected to move southwest at 5-10 kilometers per hour.
