CIIE Showcases China’s Commitment to High-Level Opening-Up

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened its doors with a resounding message of openness and cooperation. In his keynote speech on Tuesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the nation’s unwavering commitment to high-level opening-up amid rising protectionist sentiments and a sluggish global economy.

“In a world facing numerous challenges, openness is the key to mutual growth and prosperity,” Premier Li stated, underscoring China’s role in fostering global trade and collaboration.

Trade has historically been a bridge between civilizations, facilitating the exchange of goods, ideas, and culture. The CIIE serves as a testament to this legacy, providing an effective platform that makes international trade more accessible to all participants.

Over its past six editions, the expo has generated intended transactions exceeding \$420 billion. It has connected over 1,130 foreign enterprises and investment promotion organizations with partners across China, demonstrating its significant impact on global trade networks.

This year’s event marks several milestones. A record-breaking 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders are participating, with 186 of them returning for the seventh consecutive year. Official data reveals that 39 government procurement delegations and four industry procurement delegations are in attendance, forming a total of 780 trade sub-groups—a historic high for the expo.

The strong turnout reflects international confidence in China’s market and its openness policies. The CIIE not only facilitates business deals but also fosters dialogue and understanding among diverse economic players.

As global challenges persist, China’s dedication to opening-up offers a beacon of stability. The CIIE exemplifies how international cooperation can drive economic growth and innovation, benefiting businesses and consumers worldwide.
