Hong Kong Expands Talent Schemes to Attract Global Professionals

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has announced significant enhancements to its talent admission schemes, aiming to attract professionals from around the globe.

On Friday, the HKSAR government expanded its Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) by allowing graduates from 13 additional universities to apply. This addition includes nine universities from the Chinese mainland and four overseas specialized institutions recognized in the QS World University Rankings under the discipline of “Art and Design”. With this expansion, the number of universities eligible under the TTPS has increased to 198.

In a move to make relocation more appealing, the validity period of the first visas for Category A applicants under the TTPS has been extended from two years to three years. This extension is designed to help applicants better plan for moving their families to Hong Kong.

Category A applicants are defined as individuals who have an annual income of at least 2.5 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 321,471 U.S. dollars) in the year immediately preceding their application date.

Furthermore, the HKSAR government has removed the annual quota for the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme and streamlined the application and selection processes. These measures are part of the government’s efforts to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness and attract top global talent to bolster the city’s development.
