Truck Crashes into Bus Stop Near Tel Aviv, Injuring 40 People

A truck plowed into a crowded bus stop at the Glilot interchange near the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Sunday, injuring 40 people, according to Israel’s MDA rescue service and police.

The incident unfolded as a bus was stopping to drop off passengers. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as the truck veered off course, colliding with both the bus and waiting commuters.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene, pulling some victims from beneath the truck. The injured were transported to six hospitals across central Israel. According to MDA, six individuals are in serious condition, seven sustained moderate injuries, and the rest suffered minor wounds.

Israeli police have labeled the incident a deliberate attack. The driver, identified as a resident of Qalansawe, an Arab-Israeli city, was reportedly “neutralized” by civilians who opened fire at the scene. Several Israeli media outlets reported that the driver was killed.

The Glilot interchange is one of the busiest junctions in Israel, located near the Glilot Base, home to Unit 8200, an elite cyber intelligence unit of the Israeli army. The location’s high traffic volume amplified the potential for casualties.

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack and have increased security measures in the area. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and escalating tensions in the region.
