The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is set to take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, promising to be a landmark event with record participation from global industry leaders.
According to Tang Wenhong, assistant minister of commerce, this year’s CIIE will host participants from 152 countries, regions, and international organizations. The expo has achieved a new milestone with 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders confirmed to attend.
“The CIIE serves as a platform to showcase China’s major opening-up measures and confidence. It aims to share China’s new development opportunities with other countries, enhance global economic governance, and promote the building of an open world economy,” said Tang during a press conference on Wednesday.
An integral part of the CIIE, the Hongqiao International Economic Forum will feature a main forum along with 19 sub-forums, facilitating in-depth discussions on international economic cooperation and development.
Since its inception in 2018, the expo has become a pivotal platform highlighting China’s new development paradigm and high-level opening up. Over the past six editions, the CIIE debuted nearly 2,500 new products, technologies, and services, with a cumulative intended turnover exceeding $420 billion.
The event has also been instrumental in fostering international cooperation. More than 1,130 foreign-funded enterprises and investment promotion agencies have been invited to explore opportunities across various regions in China. This collaboration has led many exhibitors to establish new stores, factories, and research and development centers in the country.
