Displaced Gazan Describes Horror as Airstrike Death Toll Rises to 87

In Beit Lahia, a town in the northern Gaza Strip, the aftermath of an Israeli airstrike has left a community in devastation and mourning. The Palestinian death toll from the Saturday evening attack has risen to 87, according to Gaza-based health authorities on Sunday.

Among those bearing witness to the tragedy is Ahmed Al-Hajin, a displaced civilian who survived the bombing near a mosque in the heart of Beit Lahia. In an interview with CGTN Stringer, Al-Hajin recounted the harrowing experience and the dire conditions faced by rescue teams.

“The rescue tools used by the civil defense are outdated and have limited capabilities,” Al-Hajin lamented. “My friends and neighbors are still trapped beneath the rubble, and time is running out.”

Displaced by the intense bombing, Al-Hajin’s account underscores the challenges faced by civilians and first responders amid the escalating conflict. The lack of adequate rescue equipment hinders efforts to reach those still buried under collapsed buildings.

As the community grapples with the immediate aftermath, the rising death toll highlights the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and the cessation of hostilities to prevent further loss of life.
