China has issued a warning to the United States and Canada, accusing them of disrupting peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait following the transit of their warships through the area on Sunday.
Li Xi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), stated on Monday that the PLA remains on high alert at all times and is committed to resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and regional peace and stability.
On Sunday, the U.S. destroyer USS Higgins and the Canadian frigate HMCS Vancouver navigated through the Taiwan Strait, according to Li. The Eastern Theater Command closely monitored and followed the vessels throughout their transit, addressing the situation in accordance with laws and regulations.
Naval and air forces organized by the command maintained vigilance during the entire passage of the warships, ensuring the defense of China’s territorial integrity, Li added.
