Xi Jinping Calls for Enhanced China-U.S. Cooperation at NCUSCR Gala

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for enhanced cooperation between China and the United States, emphasizing that both nations should boost each other’s development rather than hinder it. In a congratulatory message sent on Tuesday to the annual Gala Dinner of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR), Xi highlighted the significance of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

President Xi expressed his appreciation for the NCUSCR’s persistent efforts in promoting exchanges and cooperation across various fields between the Chinese mainland and the United States. He also congratulated William E. Ford, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Atlantic, who was honored at this year’s gala.

“China-U.S. ties are among the world’s most important bilateral relations, bearing on the well-being of the two peoples and the future of mankind,” Xi stated. He underscored that China’s success presents opportunities for the United States and vice versa, advocating for a partnership that benefits not only both countries but also the entire world.

Highlighting the outcomes of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held in July, Xi noted that China is deepening reforms to advance Chinese modernization. He reaffirmed that opening up is a defining feature of this modernization, and China will continue to open its doors wider to the outside world.

“China will enhance its institutional openness, continue to build a first-rate international business environment, and leverage the advantage of its enormous market and domestic demand potential to bring more opportunities for China-U.S. cooperation,” Xi said.

He encouraged the NCUSCR and friends from all walks of life to continue supporting China-U.S. relations and to actively participate in and benefit from China’s modernization efforts. Xi expressed hope for increased visits and exchanges, deeper mutually beneficial cooperation, and joint efforts to translate the “San Francisco vision” into reality, bringing more benefits to the peoples of both nations and injecting stability and positive energy into the world.

On the same day, U.S. President Joe Biden also sent a congratulatory message to the NCUSCR’s annual gala dinner, signaling mutual recognition of the importance of the bilateral relationship.
