China and Kyrgyzstan Deepen Strategic Partnership at SCO Meeting

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov met on Tuesday during the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The leaders pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation and enhance their strategic partnership, reinforcing ties between their nations.

Premier Li emphasized China’s commitment to work with Kyrgyzstan to consolidate mutual support and remain reliable partners in development and revitalization. He highlighted the importance of deepening high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to promote common development and prosperity.

Li referenced the recent meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Astana, noting that it laid out plans to build a closer China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China seeks to enhance coordination and deepen collaboration in various fields.

The Chinese premier expressed readiness to enhance connectivity, accelerate infrastructure improvement, stimulate trade and investment, and expand cooperation in new energy, cross-border e-commerce, big data, and artificial intelligence. He also called for deeper exchanges in culture, tourism, education, and health, fostering longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Li underscored China’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of last year’s China-Central Asia Summit together with Kyrgyzstan. He urged strengthened communication and cooperation within the SCO framework, promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” to contribute positively to regional peace, stability, and development.

Prime Minister Zhaparov expressed appreciation for China’s support and assistance in Kyrgyzstan’s economic and social development. He highlighted the fruitful economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening ties with China.

Zhaparov conveyed Kyrgyzstan’s eagerness to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by their heads of state. He emphasized deepening Belt and Road cooperation, advancing the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and expanding cooperation in port construction, connectivity, finance, mining, education, and tourism.

Reiterating support for the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the global initiatives proposed by President Xi, Zhaparov expressed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to strengthen multilateral coordination with China, boost cooperation between China and Central Asian countries, and jointly promote regional peace and prosperity.

The meeting between Premier Li and Prime Minister Zhaparov signifies a strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan, with both nations committed to deeper cooperation and shared development.
