Red Crescent Reports 28 Dead in Israeli Strike on Gaza School

The Palestinian Red Crescent has reported that an Israeli air strike on a school in Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least 28 people and left 54 others injured on Thursday.

According to the organization’s statement, their teams responded to the casualties following what they described as the Israeli occupation army’s targeting of Rafida School in Deir el-Balah. The Gaza Health Ministry, administered by Hamas, confirmed the same death toll in a separate announcement.

The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted Palestinian combatants operating from a command-and-control center embedded within a compound that previously served as the Rafida School. They asserted that the location was utilized by Hamas for military activities.

This incident adds to the escalating tensions and humanitarian concerns in the region, as the ongoing conflict continues to significantly impact civilians. International organizations have expressed alarm over the rising number of casualties and the reported targeting of civilian structures.

The Red Crescent and other humanitarian agencies are actively working on the ground to provide medical assistance and support to affected communities. Calls for de-escalation and the protection of civilian lives have been reiterated by global leaders and organizations.
