In a thrilling finale at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao, Chinese paddlers Sun Yingsha and Lin Shidong emerged victorious in the women’s and men’s singles finals, respectively, securing both titles for China on Sunday in China’s Macao Special Administrative Region.
Sun Yingsha faced off against compatriot Wang Yidi in an intense match, ultimately triumphing with scores of 11-7, 6-11, 12-10, 4-11, 11-8, and 11-4. Reflecting on her performance, Sun shared, “I found myself in better form in the fifth and sixth games. I came to play in Macao right after the 2024 Paris Games without systematic training sessions. But my performance improved quickly as I continued to play at the tournament.”
Expressing optimism about the future, Sun added, “The new Olympic period has begun. Maybe it’s still too early to think about the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics because it’s still four years away. But winning this title is a good start for me. I hope I can win more matches and perform well at the WTT China Smash in Beijing.”
Lin Shidong’s victory in the men’s singles final further highlighted China’s dominance in the sport, as both titles were claimed by Chinese paddlers at the prestigious tournament.
