Driving Innovation: Nepalese Student Embraces China’s Electric Vehicle Industry
At a LinkedIn graduate recruitment event in Beijing this August, the enthusiasm for innovation and technology was palpable. Among the aspiring professionals was Prabina Basnet, a master’s student from Nepal studying International Engineering Management at Tsinghua University. Her passion for the automobile industry, particularly electric vehicles, has led her to China, a global leader in manufacturing and technological advancement.
“I’ve always been fascinated by how electric vehicles can revolutionize transportation while promoting environmental sustainability,” Basnet shared with CGTN’s Enoch Wong. “China’s progress in this field is incredible, and being here gives me the opportunity to learn from the best.”
However, navigating China’s competitive job market presents its own challenges. Securing internships in such a dynamic environment requires resilience and adaptability. “It’s a highly competitive space,” Basnet acknowledged. “But the potential for personal growth and exposure to cutting-edge technologies makes it all worthwhile.”
She emphasized the importance of innovation in not only advancing industry but also contributing to a more sustainable future. “China’s factories and engineering hubs are at the forefront of technological development,” she said. “Being part of this ecosystem allows me to contribute to meaningful change.”
Basnet’s journey reflects the broader opportunities for international students in China. As the country continues to lead in manufacturing and technological innovation, it offers a unique platform for aspiring engineers and entrepreneurs from around the world.
“Studying and working here is a transformative experience,” Basnet concluded. “It’s not just about professional development; it’s about being part of a global community striving for progress.”
