China solidified its dominance at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris on Tuesday, leading the medal tally with 53 gold, 40 silver, and 22 bronze medals following stellar performances by its athletes.
Zou Lijuan made history at Stade de France by throwing 9.14 meters in the women’s shot put F34 final, marking her season’s best and securing China’s 200th track and field gold since first participating in the Paralympics in 1984.
“I didn’t expect to be the winner of the lucky 200th medal,” Zou told reporters with a smile. “It’s even better than winning a gold.”
In the women’s discus throw F11 final, teammates Zhang Liangmin and Xue Enhui clinched gold and silver respectively. Zhang achieved a throw of 39.08 meters, while Xue followed closely with 37.67 meters. Assunta Legnante of Italy earned the bronze with a throw of 38.01 meters.
Jin Hua and Dai Yunqiang added to China’s medal haul in the men’s 1500-meter T54 final. Jin claimed gold with a time of 2:49.93, and Dai secured bronze finishing in 2:54.54.
With these remarkable achievements, China’s Paralympians continue to inspire and demonstrate exceptional prowess on the global stage.
