Chinese Mainland Olympians Conclude Inspiring Visit to Macao SAR

A delegation of Chinese mainland athletes returning from the Paris Olympics concluded their three-day visit to south China’s Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Monday. The delegation consisted of 65 athletes, including 59 gold medalists, along with coaches and team leaders. Prior to Macao, they had also visited the Hong Kong SAR for three days.

During their stay, the Olympians engaged in dialogues with young athletes and participated in friendly matches with local sports enthusiasts. They visited iconic landmarks and took part in gala events, showcasing their athletic skills and performing in front of enthusiastic crowds.

It has become a tradition for mainland medalists to visit Hong Kong and Macao after the Olympic Games to foster a sense of national pride and strengthen bonds between people. Athlete representatives expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and hoped to inspire younger generations with their understanding of sportsmanship.

“We received such a warm welcome and appreciation from the residents of Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. I didn’t expect that we would attract this much attention. Your enthusiasm makes me feel like I’m coming home. I’d like to return here again,” said swimmer Zhang Yufei, who won one silver and five bronze medals in Paris.

“These past few days, I was truly moved by your warmth and passion for sports. I hope we can inspire the younger generation through exchanges, and that they continue to be inspired by Chinese sportsmanship,” said Li Yuehong, who won his maiden Olympic title in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event.
