The 19th Changchun Film Festival concluded on Sunday in Changchun, capital of northeast China’s Jilin Province, celebrating the rising talent in China’s cinematic industry through initiatives like the New Force Forum and Golden Deer Ventures.
Fifteen finalists were selected from 124 films competing for the Golden Deer Awards, which were presented at the grand finale of the five-day cultural event. The Best Film Award was bestowed upon “The Volunteers: To the War,” a film about China’s People’s Volunteer Army, directed by acclaimed Chinese director Chen Kaige. Esteemed filmmaker Zhang Yimou received the Best Director Award for his 2023 film “Under the Light.”
The festival showcased the vibrant future of Chinese cinema, highlighting the contributions of burgeoning filmmakers and actors. Industry forums and venture initiatives provided platforms for new voices, fostering innovation and collaboration within the film community.
