Chinese Athletes Shine at 2024 Paralympics, Breaking World Records

On Day 2 of the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, Chinese athletes continued to dominate the competition, securing a remarkable haul of medals and setting new world records.

China added eight gold, eight silver, and four bronze medals to their tally on Friday, showcasing exceptional performances across multiple events.

Zhou Xia clinched China’s first athletics title of the Games by winning the women’s 100-meter T35 final with a time of 13.58 seconds. Not only did she achieve her season-best performance, but she also extended her winning streak in this event to three consecutive Paralympics.

Her compatriot, Guo Qianqian, followed closely, earning the silver medal with a time of 13.74 seconds, contributing to China’s strong presence on the podium.

In the men’s long jump T11 final, Di Dongdong and Chen Shichang secured the top two spots, celebrating together on the podium. Di set a new world record with a leap of 6.85 meters to claim the gold medal. Chen secured the silver with an impressive jump of 6.50 meters.

The outstanding achievements of these athletes reflect China’s commitment to excellence in Paralympic sports and highlight the athletes’ dedication and perseverance. Their performances have not only brought pride to their nation but have also inspired audiences worldwide.
