2024 Cafe Show China Brings African Coffee Aromas to Beijing

The 2024 Cafe Show China kicked off on Friday in Beijing, immersing Chinese coffee enthusiasts in a rich tapestry of global coffee cultures. The event shines a spotlight on authentic African coffee beans, introducing local consumers to new and exotic flavors.

Government officials, coffee importers, and farm owners from renowned coffee-growing regions such as Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia gathered at the exhibition. Their presence underscores the strengthening ties between China and Africa, especially in the realm of agricultural trade and cultural exchange.

In anticipation of the upcoming Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) set to open in Beijing on Wednesday, the Cafe Show serves as a prelude, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the nations. The summit promises to further enhance cooperation and foster new opportunities.

Ethiopia, believed to be the birthplace of coffee, inaugurated the exhibition with a captivating demonstration of Kahawa, a traditional coffee brewing ceremony. Typically performed by a woman, the ceremony is a deep-rooted cultural practice that symbolizes hospitality and community. Attendees were enthralled by the aromatic experience, gaining a deeper appreciation for Ethiopian traditions and the origins of their favorite beverage.

“We are delighted to share our heritage and coffee with the people of China,” said an Ethiopian farm owner at the event. “This exhibition is not just about coffee; it’s about building bridges between our cultures and peoples.”

The 2024 Cafe Show China is expected to attract thousands of visitors over the weekend, offering workshops, tasting sessions, and networking opportunities for industry professionals and coffee lovers alike.
