President Xi Jinping on Tuesday applauded Chinese Olympians for their remarkable achievements and exemplary sportsmanship at the Paris Olympics, declaring that they have brought immense pride to the nation and its people.
At an enthusiastic gathering held at the Great Hall of the People, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with the triumphant athletes who represented China at the Paris 2024 Games.
Team China’s outstanding haul of 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals in Paris marks the country’s best performance at an overseas Summer Olympics, a milestone that Xi emphasized as a testament to China’s growing national strength and prominence on the global stage.
