Chinese Mainland Enhances Support for Taiwan Businesses to Foster Cross-Strait Development

The Chinese mainland has announced plans to create better conditions for Taiwan businesses aiming to develop on the mainland, an official revealed at a recent seminar on cross-strait relations. Speaking on Saturday in Qingdao, Shandong Province, Qiu Kaiming, Vice Director of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, emphasized the mainland’s commitment to fostering economic ties and supporting Taiwan compatriots.

“We will fully implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches on Taiwan work by continuing to improve systems and policies that benefit Taiwan compatriots,” Qiu stated. “Our goal is to create better conditions for Taiwan compatriots and businesses to thrive on the mainland.”

The seminar, which gathered over 140 experts and scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, served as a platform for exchanging views on the development of cross-strait relations. Participants discussed the fallacies and harm of the conception of history promoted by “Taiwan independence” separatists, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration.

Qiu underscored that China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity have never been divided. “The fact that the mainland and Taiwan both belong to one China has never changed,” he said. “The steps towards national reunification by compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have never stopped.”

Zeng Zanrong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shandong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, highlighted the deep historical connections between Shandong and Taiwan. “We have achieved fruitful results through close cooperation in various fields, including the economy, technology, and culture,” Zeng noted.

“With further reform as the driving force, we will continue to deepen integrative development in various fields between Shandong and Taiwan,” he added. “We are committed to contributing to the peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations.”

The two-day seminar featured keynote speeches and group discussions, focusing on collaborative strategies to enhance cross-strait ties. Hosted by the Cross-Straits Relations Research Center and organized by the Shandong Province Cross-Straits Economic and Cultural Development Promotion Association, the event underscored the mainland’s dedication to strengthening bonds with Taiwan residents and businesses.
